How to Unlock
Get a couple married

Mii Homes is a location exclusive to Tomodachi Life. Married couples will move into one of the houses together. The Miis will still keep their original apartments even after obtaining their own home. If they have a child, that child will grow up there until they are ready to either move into an apartment or travel the world. If a couple gets divorced or deleted, their house will disappear unless they get back together.

There are a total of 50 house spaces available. The house' interior and roof color are determined by the personality types that get together, with a total of 10 available designs. If the personality of either Mii occupying it is altered, the house changes accordingly.

When the player visits either Mii at home (or if the player wants to babysit if they have a child), all Miis present at the house will look at the camera with a shocked expression. If a baby lives in the house, the child will not do this until they are fully-grown and live on the island permanently. When visiting a Mii in their home, the player will still interact with them in the apartment.

Mii Interactions[]

When Mii couples are at their homes, they will read a newspaper or book together or on their own, sit and talk at the table, sit outside on the back doorstep, or watch TV. Although the camera is positioned so that the player can't see the screen, a crowd can be heard cheering and the Miis happily pump their fists as they watch, meaning they are possibly watching a sport being played. The Miis sometimes stare at each other lovingly while romantic music plays. A third Mii can also come to visit, and they will either sit on the floor and speak to the married couple, or watch TV with them from the kitchen table.

If a couple has a baby, there will be a babysit button so you can play with the baby. the couple can be seen giving piggyback rides, cradling, or playing peek-a-boo with the baby. At stage 1, they only sleep in a bassinet; they crawl around at stage 2, stand up often at stage 3, take a few steps at stage 4, and run and jumps around at stage 5. At stages 3 and 4, the parent(s) and/or visitor can sit around the baby and either sing or clap with them. From stages 3-5, the baby can play in a sandbox, making a sandcastle at stage 5; they can also play with blocks at stages 4-5. If a baby is crying, the parents and/or visitor will try to comfort them from stages 1-4.

Miis can also be seen cooking meals before eating. For breakfast and lunch, the Mii closest to the camera eats a sandwich and egg, while the Mii on the other end eats soup. For dinner, both of them have chicken meals. If a child eats with them, the baby eats nothing but reclines in a bassinet at stage 1, having a bottle at stages 2-3, some orange slices at stage 4, as well as a sandwich and egg for breakfast/lunch and a chicken meal for dinner at stage 5, like their parents. From stages 2-4, the baby sits in a high chair, but it changes to a regular chair at Stage 5.

Miis can also be seen in the bathroom sometime after dinner. In the Japanese and Korean versions, Miis will use the bathtub together, including their child if there is one. It was replaced in the western versions due to cultural differences; instead, one of the Miis is seen taking a shower, with their foggy silhouette visible through the translucent shower door. The Miis can be seen brushing their teeth; if they have a child, either the mother or father sits on a stool and brushes their teeth at stages 2-3. The child brushes their own teeth at stages 4-5.

When the couple prepares to sleep for the night, they will be in their bedroom wearing pajamas, rather than going to bed with whatever they were wearing like if they sleep in their apartment. The husband will wear blue pajamas and the wife will wear pink pajamas. Eventually, they settle down in a large double bed. The couple sometimes sleeps side by side or lopsided and occasionally, the Mii on the right side of the bed takes all the covers, leaving the left Mii to shiver in their sleep from the cold. Upon waking up from a dream, the right Mii rolls over upside down above the covers, while the left Mii falls off the bed; in both cases, the Mii will look around in shock for a moment before going back to sleep. If the player scrolls to the next house over and goes back, they will be sleeping in whatever position they were in before viewing their dream. After the couple has a child, they will sleep in a crib from stages 1-3 or a smaller version of their parents' bed at stages 4-5.

Trivia[]

  • Although the Miis are supposed to be cooking, they do not appear to actually fry or slice anything.
    • Sometimes, when Miis are cooking alone in the house, they will still talk as if someone is there.
  • While the Miis are taking a bath in Japanese and Korean versions, they are sometimes wearing towels in the tub. A stage 5 child also can be seen splashing, diving, and swimming around the tub during bathtime.
    • In Western versions, this is replaced with a shower, that has a frosted glass door. Only one Mii will shower at a time, and only their shadow will be seen.
  • If a family has a baby and one of the parents has a Rent-a-cat coupon (NTSC)/Cat Voucher (PAL), a cat can be seen in the living room during the Stage 2 or 3 mini-game with the baby.
    • The cat will also appear in a family album if the parents have one for the entire time the baby is growing.
  • When the Miis are staring at each other lovingly, it will sometimes take a longer time to load.
  • When a Mii is at their house, they will always act normal/happy no matter the emotions that Mii happens to have while in their apartment, including sad or sick.
  • If a married couple are in a fight with each other, they will never be seen together at their house.
  • Regardless of the current season, the grass in the backyard will always be green.
  • Visitor Miis will visit homes between 9am and 8pm.
  • If you have a baby, you may hear a baby’s cherish while overlooking the island after leaving the Mii homes.
