The disposable camera (or just camera in Tomodachi Collection) is a gift/good that the player can give a Mii.
Upon giving the disposable camera to a Mii, the player can let them take a picture of either "Something Artsy" ("An Arty Photo" in the PAL version) or "Someone We Know" ("An Islander's Photo" in the PAL version). The latter option is only available in Tomodachi Life.
Upon being given a disposable camera, a Mii will immediately go out and snap a photo off-screen, coming back with either a real-life photograph ("Something Artsy") or a singular/group of Miis engaging in an activity ("Someone We Know"). After viewing the picture, the Mii will give the picture a random title, which is not influenced by the content of their photo.
The player can then rate the Mii's photo, with the rating scale being worded differently in Collection and Life. In Collection the ratings will vary from "100 points" to "No idea". In Life the ratings will vary from "10/10" to "No idea." Depending on what the player decides, the Mii will remark on the player's rating.

- The word 'Tobakaido', despite being a name that's mostly seen in Japanese versions of Tomodachi Life, is written on the Disposable Camera in international versions of the game.
- The photograph of a napoleonfish in Tomodachi Life is the only artsy photo in the game to majorly depict humans outside of just hands, legs, etc. as the cameramen can be seen reflected in the glass of the tank.
