This article is about relationship statuses between Miis. For information on a romantic relationship between two Miis, see Sweetheart.

When Miis become friends, sweethearts, spouses, etc., their relationship statuses can be displayed by pressing L or R while inside their apartment. Different statuses have different colors, which range from dark green (highest), green, yellow green, yellow, red, purple, and blue (lowest). The higher a Mii's status is with another Mii, the more likely they will become best friends, confess their feelings, propose, or want to have a baby. On the other hand, the lower a Mii's status is with another Mii, the more likely they will get in fights and/or break up.

Occasionally, a Mii will ask the player what he or she thinks about the Mii's relationship with another Mii. If the player chooses the first option, the status will go up, if the second option is chosen, the status will remain steady, and if the third option is chosen, the status will go down.

There are 5 categories of statuses, each color saying something different about the relationship; they are Friends/Family/Siblings, Best Friend, Sweetheart, Spouse, and Ex-Sweethearts/Ex-Spouses. The yellow status is the default status in most cases; the only exception is when a husband and wife divorce, in which case the current statuses of both Miis will change to match the Ex-Spouses category (ex. a Mii at "Soul mate" status will change to "Still friends", "Not getting along" would change to "Want to forget", etc.)
